Mezzo A Cappella | New York City

hi there!

Mezzo is a New York City–based all-female a cappella group. We've recently released our first E.P., called Woman Like Me! Listen to us on Spotify, Youtube, or Apple Music, and share with friends!

A couple of us gathered back in 2014 to sing together casually, and after some time found ourselves committed to the idea of being part of a semi-professional group. With that, Mezzo was born!

Since then, we've sung at various venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, the Bitter End, the Bell House, the Marriott Marquis, the Shrine, Pianos, and Sessions 73, and have also been part of events such as Thanksgiving parties, Halloween celebrations, weddings, and corporate affairs. We're also part of the Contemporary A Cappella League and the MTA's Music Under New York program, and are the official music partner of the Women's Education Project.

Most importantly, we're a diverse, close-knit group of women who enjoy each other's company, finding our way through life in this city together!

REYNETTA SAMPSON

Alto 2 / VP

Reynetta was first introduced to the world of a cappella in high school, where she began a love affair with the genre which has continued to the present day. Since then, she has been a member of various groups and has performed in all sorts of places, from the NYC subway to an upstate NY wedding. She is very excited to be a part of Mezzo. She loves music, has extremely eclectic musical taste, and couldn’t possibly exist without her headphones, especially when she’s working long hours as a Project Analyst. A few of Reynetta’s other passions include a love of the Spanish language (she has a Master’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature), and a love of cheering on her favorite football team, Real Madrid. Ya tenemos la Undécima!!!

ERIN MAZUERA

Alto 1 / Business Manager

Erin has been a lover of the stage since childhood, singing professionally, competitively and, of course, recreationally, always. She fell in love with a cappella at an early age and has been performing and traveling with a number of groups from the New England Conservatory, Massachusetts All State and a several mixed and all female groups in MA and CT. Raised in Boston, by means of nearly a decade in greater Hartford, Erin is thrilled to be performing with and managing the Mezzo family since 2015. By day, Erin can be found between NYC and traveling the globe developing and implementing digital strategy and directing technical projects all the while learning about famous artists for a world class art fair. By night, she's karaoking with the other Mezzos, dancing with her Brooklyn neighbors at Zumba, practicing her Spanish with her family in Colombia, in the kitchen baking cookies or making ice cream, or out trying the latest new restaurant in the city.

AMANDA LIM

Alto 2 / Music Director / VP

Amanda has been singing a cappella for 8 years, both competitively and recreationally with high school, college, and professional teams. She also arranges pieces and does commissions for other groups, and lives by the motto, "go low or go home". Her favorite vocal bands include The Real Group, Take 6, and more recently, Pentatonix. She's an ecommerce program consultant by day, but otherwise also a skilled photographer and percussionist, and can be found playing the french horn or dulcimer in her spare time.

BREE LALOR

Soprano 1 / Soprano 2

Bree fell in love with a cappella in college, where she sang with the Harvard Fallen Angels. Bree is extremely excited to sing with Mezzo after moving from Boston to New York. Bree works as a Curator for ArtLifting, a social enterprise that champions artists impacted by homelessness or disabilities through the sale and celebration of their artwork. When she’s not singing, Bree can be found creating artwork, exploring NYC, researching her ancestors, or watching Gilmore Girls.

SOPHIA BROOKS

Alto 2

Sophia discovered her love for choir in second grade, but her world opened up when she joined an all female a cappella group at Bucknell.

Music was missing once she moved from Pittsburgh to NYC, so she was thrilled to join Mezzo in fall 2021 and once again sing with incredibly talented women.

Sophia works on the client services team at a startup and in her free time, she loves walking around the city, listening to crime podcasts, dog watching in central park and trying new restaurants.

JENN RODRIGUEZ

Alto 1 / Soprano 2 / VP

Jenn first began her a cappella journey in college with the NYU Cleftomaniacs, and has sung around the world with various groups and in various voice parts (though she will always be a lady bass at heart). Fluent in French and Cat 😸, she is a public school educator and administrator with a passion for all music, especially anything with harmonies that give her goosebumps! When she’s not singing, Jenn is traveling, photographing, cooking, playing guitar and piano, or redecorating her apartment… for the 100th time.

BRIANA HALL

VP / Soprano 1

Briana, a dedicated high school choir teacher based in vibrant Harlem, discovered her passion for a Cappella during her college years. With over five years of teaching experience, she has nurtured the love for music in countless students. Beyond the classroom, she finds solace in the great outdoors through camping and hiking. Her musical journey has taken her overseas, where she taught music in New Zealand, and performed on tour with her choir throughout Germany.

ABBY HUFF

Soprano 1 / Soprano 2

Abby is an NYC based singer/actor and is so excited to be a part of Mezzo! After receiving a Bachelor in Music (with an emphasis in commercial music) in her home state of Utah, Abby moved NYC to pursue a career in singing and musical theatre. She is so happy Mezzo found her along the way! If she isn’t performing, Abby is probably teaching private piano and vocal lessons or making an espresso as a barista. She is so excited to share her love of making music with this incredible group!
